About Namika
Hanan Hamdi was born and grew up in Frankfurt, Germany. Her grandparents are from Nador, a coastal city in Morocco. This background has influenced some of her music.
Namika released her first album, Nador, on July 21, 2015. It featured her very first single, "Lieblingsmensch." By the end of July 2015, her album reached number thirteen on the German music charts. Her single "Lieblingsmensch" started at number twenty-seven but quickly climbed to number one after eight weeks!
She has also released several music videos. One of them is for the song "Na-Mi-Ka," which comes from her EP (Extended Play) called Hellwach. Namika even performed a special version of her song "Hellwach" (which means "Wide Awake" in English) in the Bundesvision Song Contest 2015. This song was produced by a German team called Beatgees. She represented the state of Hessen in the contest. Her song finished in seventh place on August 29, 2015.
In 2018, Namika released another big hit song called "Je ne parle pas français" (which means "I don't speak French"). A remix of this song featured the French rapper Black M. This song also became a number one hit in Germany! On July 1, 2018, she released her second studio album, Que Walou.
Namika also competed in the 2015 New Music Award competition, where she performed three of her songs.
