Nandi Pryce's Soccer Journey
Nandi Pryce started her soccer journey playing for the Lake Howell Silver Hawks in high school. She was recognized as an All-American player twice by Parade and NSCAA. In her final year, she was even named the Parade National Defender of the Year.
She also played for club teams like Team Boca in Miami and Klein Challenge Soccer Club. Besides soccer, Nandi was also good at track and field during her first two years of high school.
College Soccer at UCLA
From 2000 to 2003, Nandi played college soccer for the UCLA Bruins. She was a standout player, earning All-American honors in 2002 and 2003. She was also named the Pac-10 Player of the Year in her senior year.
Nandi was part of the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2003. She scored 1 goal and made 7 assists in 66 games for the Bruins.
Playing for the U.S. National Team
Nandi Pryce played for several U.S. national youth teams, including the under-16, under-18, and under-21 teams.
- In 1999, she helped the under-18 team win a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada.
- She also won the Nordic Cup with the under-21 team in 2000 and 2002.
Nandi made her first appearance for the senior United States team on January 7, 2000. This was during the 2000 Australia Cup against the Czech Republic. She played a total of eight games for the U.S. team. Her last game was on July 7, 2000, in a friendly match against Italy.
After Her Playing Career
In 2004, Nandi Pryce had a broken leg, which unfortunately stopped her soccer playing career. Later that year, she became an assistant coach for the UCLA Bruins. In 2013, she was honored by being added to the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame.
