Naranjo is a special neighborhood, or barrio, located in the town of Aguada, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 3,292 people called Naranjo home. It's a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, which is a commonwealth of the United States.
Naranjo's Story: A Look Back in Time
Long ago, after a big event called the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. After this, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States Department of War took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. They found that 923 people lived in Naranjo barrio at that time. Over the years, Naranjo has grown quite a bit!
