Where the Narrowfin Smooth-hound Lives
This shark is found along the continental shelves. These are the shallow parts of the ocean floor that extend from a continent's coastline. You can find it from Florida and the northern Gulf of Mexico all the way down to Venezuela. It also lives off the coast of southern Brazil.
Ocean Depths and Locations
The narrowfin smooth-hound swims in waters from the surface down to about 100 meters deep. It is found between latitudes 32° N (north) and 36° S (south). This wide range means it lives in many different places in the Atlantic Ocean.
What the Narrowfin Smooth-hound Looks Like
This shark can grow to be quite long, reaching up to 1.1 meters (about 3.6 feet) in length. Its name, "narrowfin," gives a clue about its appearance. The "smooth-hound" part of its name tells us it has a smooth body, unlike some sharks with rough skin.
