Natalie Payida Jabangwe is a smart Zimbabwean computer engineer and businesswoman. She is currently the Group Digital Executive Officer at Sanlam, a big company in Cape Town, South Africa. In this important job, she helps manage all the digital parts of the company in over 34 countries in Africa, plus India and Malaysia.

Before this, she was the boss (chief executive officer) of EcoCash. This is a mobile money service from Econet Wireless, a top phone company in Zimbabwe. She led one of the biggest mobile money services in Africa, helping more than six million people by 2018.

Early Life and School

Natalie Payida Jabangwe was born in the United Kingdom around 1983. She went to Middlesex University and earned a degree in Computer Engineering. While studying there, she also spent some time as an exchange student at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. Later, she got a special business degree (an Executive Master of Business Administration) from the Imperial College London.

Her Amazing Career

While she was working on her master's degree, Natalie worked with a company called National Cash Register (NCR). She was part of the team that helped create new ways for people to pay for things using digital methods.

In January 2014, she moved to Zimbabwe to lead EcoCash. She was specially chosen for this big role. By December 2016, she was known as the youngest boss of a mobile money company in all of Africa!

In May 2018, Natalie was picked as one of the "100 Young Global Leaders" by the World Economic Forum. This group helps train bright young people under 40 to become future leaders. She also took part in a special leadership program in 2017 called The Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellowship Program.

In November 2018, the head of the United Nations, António Guterres, asked her to join a special team. This team works on how digital money can help achieve important global goals for a better future.

Also in 2018, a group in Paris called the Institut Choiseul for International Politics and Geoeconomics named Natalie Payida Jabangwe as one of the "100 Africa Economic Leaders for Tomorrow."

When she was at Spelman College, she worked as an intern for the mayor of Atlanta, Shirley Franklin. Natalie is known for helping to create Atlanta's first computer security rules in 2004, when she was only 21 years old.

Family

Natalie Payida Jabangwe is a mother to one daughter, named Makatendeka Morris.
