Nate Washington (born August 28, 1983) is a former American football player. He was a wide receiver, which means he was a player who catches passes from the quarterback. Nate played for several teams in the National Football League (NFL). He even won two Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers!

Early Life and High School
Nate Washington grew up in Toledo, Ohio, with his mother, Lisha. He went to Scott High School in Toledo. During his senior year, he was recognized as one of the best players in his area. He also received an honorable mention for all-state honors.
College Football Journey
Washington played college football at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. While there, he studied Information Systems. He was an amazing player for the Tiffin Dragons football team. Nate set eight different receiving records for his college.
These records include catching 13 passes in one game and gaining 299 yards in another. He also set records for most catches (70), yards (1,428), and touchdowns (16) in a single season. Over his entire college career, he had 212 catches, 4,214 yards, and 47 touchdowns.
Pro Football Career
Nate Washington made it to the NFL even though he wasn't chosen in the NFL Draft. Players who aren't drafted are called undrafted free agents. He was the first player from Tiffin University in modern times to play in the NFL.
Pittsburgh Steelers Highlights
Nate joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005. His very first catch in an NFL game happened during the 2005 AFC Championship Game. This was a big game against the Denver Broncos.
In 2006, Nate became the Steelers' "slot receiver." This is a player who lines up closer to the middle of the field. He even started two games when other players were injured. Nate helped the Steelers win two Super Bowls during his four seasons with the team. He won Super Bowl XL and Super Bowl XLIII. In Super Bowl XLIII, he had one catch for 11 yards.
Time with the Tennessee Titans
In 2009, Nate Washington signed a six-year deal with the Tennessee Titans. This was a big step in his career.
During the 2011 season, the Titans' top receiver, Kenny Britt, got injured. This meant Nate became the team's main receiver. He had his best year yet, catching 74 passes for 1,023 yards and scoring 7 touchdowns. The Titans finished with a winning record of 9 wins and 7 losses.
In 2012, the Titans' offense had some challenges. Their quarterback, Jake Locker, was hurt, and their running back, Chris Johnson, started slowly. Still, Nate led the team with 746 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns. He even had a long 71-yard touchdown catch!
For the 2013 season, Nate was chosen as a team captain. This showed how much his teammates respected him. In one game against the San Diego Chargers, Nate helped lead the team to a comeback victory. The Titans were losing with only two minutes left. Nate helped them move the ball 94 yards down the field. They scored a touchdown with just 15 seconds left and won the game! Nate had 8 catches for 131 yards in that exciting game. For the whole season, he had 58 catches for 919 yards and three touchdowns.
By the end of 2013, Nate was one of the top undrafted players in the NFL for career receiving yards. He was also first among all wide receivers for playing in the most games in a row. In 2014, he caught an 80-yard touchdown pass against his old team, the Steelers.
Short Stays: Texans and Patriots
In 2015, Nate Washington signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans. He played his eleventh and final NFL season with them.
He then signed with the New England Patriots in March 2016. However, he was released by the Patriots in August of that year.
Off the Field
Nate Washington has two daughters. He loves to help his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. He supports several charities and has started his own fundraising events. He also hosts an annual football camp for kids.
Nate's mother, Lisha, also achieved a college degree. In 2010, she was honored by a local nonprofit organization called Mom's House of Toledo. She works as a secretary for a board that helps people with developmental disabilities.
