Starting His Acting Career
Early Roles
When Nathan was a child, he started acting by doing voice-over work. This means he used his voice to play characters. He often dubbed Japanese anime into English. Anime are Japanese animated shows or movies.
He voiced the main character, Jean Roque-Raltique, in Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. He also had parts in shows like "Soul Hunter", Devil Lady, and Jing: King of Bandits. Nathan also appeared in early films such as Teeth (2007).
Playing Ethan Lovett on General Hospital
Nathan Parsons first tried out for a different role on General Hospital. He didn't get that part, but the show liked him. So, they created a new character just for him!
He first appeared as Ethan Lovett on January 30, 2009. Ethan was a "con artist," meaning he tricked people. Nathan was first hired for a few episodes. But soon, he got a full contract with the show. He worked closely with famous actor Anthony Geary.
His character, Ethan, was later revealed to be the son of two very famous characters. These were Luke Spencer (played by Anthony Geary) and Holly Sutton. In 2009, Soaps In Depth magazine praised Nathan. They said he was "taking the show by storm." They called Ethan "one of daytime's most riveting young characters."
In December 2011, Nathan decided not to continue his contract with General Hospital. His last episode aired on March 7, 2012. The story was left open, so he could possibly return later.
In May 2012, Nathan was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. This award was for "Outstanding Younger Actor" for his role as Ethan Lovett. Even though he didn't win, he was a presenter at the awards show. He presented an award to his former co-star, Anthony Geary. General Hospital also won the award for "Outstanding Drama Series."
Nathan returned to General Hospital in April 2013 for the show's 50th Anniversary. He also came back for two episodes in July 2015. He even made another guest appearance in September 2020.
His Role on Bunheads
Nathan joined the show Bunheads on July 16, 2012. He played a character named Godot. Godot was very popular with the other characters on the show.
His character had just returned from a year-long surfing trip. He quickly connected with the main character, Michelle. Nathan appeared in six more episodes during the show's first season.
Later Roles in TV Shows
In 2014, Nathan took over the role of James in the final season of True Blood. James was a vampire character.
From 2014 to 2018, he played Jackson Kenner on The Originals. Jackson was an "exiled werewolf," meaning he was a werewolf who had been forced to leave his home.
In March 2018, Nathan was cast in a new main role. He played Max Evans in The CW series Roswell, New Mexico. This show is about aliens living among humans.
