The National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame is a special place in Saratoga Springs, New York. It opened in 1986 inside the old Washington Bath House. This museum is all about dance! You can see cool photographs, videos, old costumes, and learn about famous dancers. It was started by Marylou Whitney. The museum also offers dance classes for students of all ages. These classes are held through the Lewis A. Swyer School for the Arts. This school also hosts the New York State Summer School of the Arts in July and August.
From the very beginning, the museum had a clear goal. It wanted to help everyone learn about and love dance. It also aimed to create a special Hall of Fame. This Hall of Fame would honor people who have made dance amazing. The museum works to get people interested in dance. It also helps provide ways for everyone to learn about and enjoy this art form.
The Dance Hall of Fame
The Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame is a special part of the museum. It was added in 1987. Each year, new people who have done great things in the world of dance are added to the Hall of Fame.
