Naval Ravikant (born November 5, 1974) is an entrepreneur and investor from the United States. He was born in India. He is known for helping start AngelList, a platform for startups to find investors.

Naval has invested in many well-known companies when they were just starting. These include Uber, FourSquare, and Twitter. He also co-hosts a podcast.

Early Life and Education

Naval Ravikant was born in New Delhi, India, in 1974. When he was nine years old, he moved to New York City with his mother and brother.

He went to Stuyvesant High School and graduated in 1991. Later, in 1995, he earned degrees in Computer Science and Economics from Dartmouth College.

Naval's Career Journey

Naval Ravikant worked briefly at Boston Consulting Group. After that, he moved to Silicon Valley, a famous area in California known for technology companies.

Starting Epinions

In 1999, Naval helped create a website called Epinions. This site allowed people to write reviews about products they used. The company raised $45 million from investors to help it grow.

In 2003, Epinions joined with another company called Dealtime. The new company became Shopping.com. It later became a public company in 2004.

Investing with Hit Forge

Around 2007, Naval started an investment fund called The Hit Forge. This fund invested in new companies that were just beginning.

Some of the companies Hit Forge invested in include X (formerly Twitter), Uber, and Stack Overflow. These investments helped these companies get started.

Creating AngelList

In 2007, Naval began writing a blog called Venture Hacks. This blog gave helpful advice to new companies about how to get funding.

This blog then grew into AngelList, which Naval co-founded in 2010. AngelList is a platform where new companies, called startups, can connect with angel investors to raise money. AngelList also runs Product Hunt, a site for discovering new products. In 2022, AngelList was valued at $4 billion. Naval is the chairman and former CEO of AngelList.

Exploring Cryptocurrency with MetaStable Capital

In 2014, Naval also helped start MetaStable Capital. This was a special investment fund that focused on cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrencies are digital money like Bitcoin and Ether.

By 2017, this fund had $69 million in assets. Many big investment firms were investors in MetaStable Capital.

Spearhead Investment Fund

In 2017, Naval launched another investment fund called Spearhead. This fund helps founders of new companies become angel investors themselves.

Spearhead has raised $100 million for its third fund. It gives $1 million to each founder to invest in other technology companies. Many companies from Spearhead's programs are now very successful.

Podcasts and Books

Naval has his own short podcast where he talks about ideas, business, and investing. He has also been a guest on many other popular podcasts.

A book called The Almanack of Naval Ravikant was created from his tweets, essays, and interviews. It shares his thoughts on wealth and happiness. The book is available for free online.
