History of Naylor
Naylor was first known as Barfield. It started growing when a railroad line reached this area. The town got its current name, Naylor, in 1892. It was named after William A. Naylor. He was a businessperson who worked in the lumber industry.
Geography and Location
Naylor is in the very southeast corner of Ripley County. It is only about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the border with Butler County. The city is also about five miles (8 km) north of the Missouri-Arkansas state line.
The city of Doniphan is about 12 miles (19 km) to the west-northwest. The Little Black River flows about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) northwest of Naylor. The United States Census Bureau says Naylor covers a total area of about 0.55 square miles (1.43 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
