Becoming a McDonald's All-American
During his last year of high school, Naz played really well. He scored about 15 points, grabbed almost 8 rebounds, and blocked over 2 shots per game. In that game, he scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds.
Naz also helped his high school team, Roselle Catholic, win the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions. He scored 22 points in the final game.
The "Jelly Fam" Movement
During his high school years, Naz was part of a group called "Jelly Fam." This was an online movement known for fancy finger roll layups. Naz was nicknamed "Big Jelly" because he was a big player who could play like a quick, flashy guard. He was the only member of the "Jelly Fam" to make it to the NBA. In January 2025, his high school honored him by retiring his jersey number, 5. Naz and his Timberwolves teammates attended the special ceremony.
Choosing a College Team
Naz Reid was a highly sought-after player in high school. Many experts rated him as a 5-star recruit. This means he was considered one of the best young players in the country. He was ranked as the top power forward in New Jersey. On September 12, 2017, Naz decided to play college basketball at LSU (Louisiana State University). He chose LSU because he liked the coaches there.

Joining the Minnesota Timberwolves (2019–Present)

This contract allowed him to play for both the Timberwolves and their minor league team, the Iowa Wolves. This way, he could get more playing time and develop his skills.

The team announced that he had a fracture and would be out for a while.
Despite the injury, Naz Reid signed a new three-year contract with the Timberwolves on June 25, 2023. This showed that the team believed in him. On March 8, 2024, he scored a new career-high of 34 points in a game. Then, on April 24, 2024, he received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award.
