Nectophryne, also known as African tree toads, are a special group of true toads. There are only two types, or species, of these toads. They live in the western parts of Africa. You can find them in countries like Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea. They also live in the northeastern part of Congo and on Bioko Island.

What Kinds of Nectophryne Are There?
Scientists have found two main species of Nectophryne. Each one has its own scientific name and a common name.

- Bates' Tree Toad (Nectophryne batesii): This toad was named by scientist Boulenger in 1913.
These two species are the only ones known in the Nectophryne group. They are both important to the ecosystem where they live.

African tree toads are found in a specific region of Western Africa. Their habitat includes:
