The Story of Neopets: The Darkest Faerie
The game Neopets: The Darkest Faerie takes place in a magical land called Neopia. This world is filled with many different Neopets species. They act and look a bit like humans, which is called anthropomorphic. The exciting story for this game was created by Adam Powell, who also started Neopets.
The Darkest Faerie's Escape
A very long time ago, a powerful dark faerie tried to take control of Neopia. As punishment, she was locked away deep under the Maraquan sea. People even tried to erase her name from history. She was only known as 'the Darkest Faerie'.
After a thousand years, the magic holding her prisoner became weak. The Darkest Faerie broke free! She returned to the surface, ready to take over Neopia. She also wanted revenge on Queen Fyora, the Faerie queen who had imprisoned her.
Tor's Journey Begins
The game starts with a young Lupe farm boy named Tormund Ellis, or "Tor." He dreams of becoming a knight in the city of Meridell. Tor trains hard and becomes a knight after saving a village called Cogham. He protects it from some bad guys called The Ixi Raiders.
Later, Tor tries to help Illusen, the earth faerie, from attacking Werelupes. But this mission doesn't go well. When he returns to Meridell, he finds the city covered in dark magic. The Darkest Faerie now controls Meridell and its people. Tor is not affected, but he is forced out of the city by her evil helpers.
Roberta's Escape
Meanwhile, the nearby kingdom of Brightvale notices the dark clouds over Meridell. They send a group to Faerieland to find out what's happening. Faerieland is where Queen Fyora lives.
Roberta, a young Acara and niece of Brightvale's King Hagan, is part of this group. That night, the Darkest Faerie attacks Faerieland. She captures Queen Fyora and covers the castle in dark magic. Roberta manages to escape the castle. However, she is chased and falls down to the countryside of Neopia.
Heroes Unite and a Powerful Rod
Roberta and Tormund soon meet each other. They decide to warn King Hagan of Brightvale about the Darkest Faerie. It turns out both heroes have special amulets that protect them from the Darkest Faerie's power.
They discover that the Darkest Faerie was once sealed away by Queen Fyora's magical rod. This rod is now hidden deep under Meridell. Tor and Roberta free the nearby areas from the dark magic. Then, they sneak into Meridell castle and find the ancient rod deep underground.
With the rod's power, they drive the darkness out of Meridell. They then return to Faerieland to stop the Darkest Faerie. But it's a trap! The Darkest Faerie grabs the rod, and a fight between the two faeries begins. Queen Fyora quickly teleports Tormund and Roberta to safety before she is captured again.
The Lost Kingdom of Altador
When Tor and Roberta wake up, they are in the lost Kingdom of Altador. People thought this kingdom was destroyed by the Darkest Faerie a thousand years ago. They learn that the Darkest Faerie was one of Altador's founders but later betrayed them.
To break her spell, they need to awaken the other founders, known as "The Protectors." Once they awaken the Protectors and bring Altador back to Neopia, one of the founders, Jerdana, helps them. She gives them the same orb Queen Fyora used to imprison the Darkest Faerie before. Jerdana also opens a portal for them to return to Faerieland. This is where the final battle against the Darkest Faerie will happen.
The Final Showdown
The final fight with the Darkest Faerie is a race against time. The Darkest Faerie uses Fyora's Rod to make Faerieland start falling towards Meridell. If you don't defeat her in three minutes, Faerieland will crash, and you lose the game.
If you win, you use Jerdana's Orb to imprison the Darkest Faerie again. You also free Queen Fyora and get her Rod back. Fyora then uses the Rod to stop Faerieland from falling. She returns it safely to the sky. Tormund and Roberta are celebrated as heroes. The game ends with the Darkest Faerie as a statue in Faerieland. Queen Fyora says, "She will be kept a close eye on."
How to Play the Game
In Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, you can play as either Tormund or Roberta.
Character Abilities
- Tormund: He uses a sword to attack his enemies.
- Roberta: She uses magic attacks to fight.
Both characters can use special powers called "motes." When you use a mote in a power-up attack, it creates special effects. These effects can range from poisoning enemies to making a bright beam of light. Using magic attacks uses up your magic energy. You can refill your magic energy by eating Purple Juppies or other fruits and potions.
Motes and Their Powers
There are many different motes found throughout Neopia. These motes help Tor and Roberta in their fight against the darkness. You can attach motes to your weapons, shields, and armor.
Some of the motes you can find include:
- Light
- Sun
- Fog
- Wind
- Fire
- Lava
- Nova
- Supernova
- Dark
- Shadow
- Leaf
- Rock
- Bubble
- Water
Petpets as Companions
You can also feed a petpet so it will follow you and help. Once fed, a petpet will follow your character for a certain amount of time. How long it follows depends on the type of food you give it and its species. Petpets can give you special effects, like helping you see invisible things or restoring your health. Be careful, though! If you feed a petpet the same kind of food too many times, it might stop accepting it.
