The Neshota River is a river in east-central Wisconsin, United States. It is about 17.22 miles (27.71 km) long. The river starts in southeastern Brown County, Wisconsin.
The Neshota River flows south-southeast and then east. It passes through the Richard J Drum Memorial Forest. Later, it joins the Devils River. Together, they form the West Twin River. This meeting point is north of Cherney Maribel Caves County Park.
River Health
The water quality of the Neshota River changes along its path. Near Neshota County Park, the water is fairly clean. However, the quality gets worse further downstream. This is because water from nearby farms flows into the river. This farm runoff can carry things that affect water quality. In the 1990s, a large pollution event also harmed the river's health.
River Names
The city of Two Rivers, Wisconsin got its name from two rivers meeting there. One was the Neshota River. The other was once called the Mishicott River. The Mishicott River is now known as the East Twin River.
