A Look at New Baden's Past
New Baden got its name from a historical region in Germany called Baden. The village was first started in 1855. For many years, it stayed a small community.
However, in 1896, a very strong tornado hit New Baden. This storm caused a lot of damage to the village. Luckily, nearby towns helped New Baden rebuild.
After the tornado, the village was rebuilt in a more modern way. It then started to grow and become more successful. This growth happened around the same time that a difficult economic period, sometimes called the "long depression," was ending.
