The New Hope River is a river in North Carolina, United States. It flows for about 12 miles (19.6 km) through Chatham County. Today, most of the river is covered by the waters of B. Everett Jordan Lake. Its smaller streams, called tributaries, now form parts of the lake too. The New Hope River adds a lot of water to the Haw River, about 21.8% of its total flow!

Where Does It Flow?

The New Hope River starts where two smaller streams, New Hope Creek and Morgan Creek, meet. This meeting point is now inside the northern part of B. Everett Jordan Lake. Before the lake was built, the river used to flow towards the south-southwest until it joined the Haw River.
