New Princeton is a small, quiet place in Harney County, in the state of Oregon. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
New Princeton is located in the eastern part of Oregon, known for its wide-open spaces. It sits along Oregon Route 78, a highway that connects it to other places. You can find it between the towns of Burns and Burns Junction. The area is quite high up, about 4,111 feet (or 1,253 meters) above sea level. A river called the South Fork Malheur River starts nearby, close to a place called Round Mountain.
History of the Post Office
The first post office in the area, called Princeton, opened around 1910 or 1912. It helped people send and receive mail in this rural part of Oregon.
Later, the main highway, Route 78, was improved and moved a bit. This new road bypassed the original Princeton community. So, the post office was moved to a new spot, which became known as New Princeton.
Climate
New Princeton has a type of weather called a semi-arid climate. This means the area is quite dry, and it doesn't get a lot of rain or snow each year.
Even though it's dry, it can still have different seasons. Summers are usually warm, and winters can be cold. This climate is common in parts of the western United States.
Education
Students in New Princeton attend schools that are part of the Harney County school system.
