The New River is a cool waterway in the state of Georgia, United States. It's not super long, stretching about 24.5-mile-long (39.4 km). This river is a smaller stream that flows into a much bigger one called the Chattahoochee River.

Where Does It Start?
The New River begins its journey about 4 miles (6 km) south of a city called Newnan. This is where the river's waters first gather and start to flow.

From its starting point, the New River generally flows towards the southwest. It winds its way through the landscape, collecting water as it goes. Finally, it reaches the Chattahoochee River at a place called West Point Lake. This meeting point is about 8 miles (13 km) west of Hogansville.
The New River helps feed the larger Chattahoochee River. This makes it a vital part of the region's natural environment.
