New Trier is a small city located in Dakota County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2020, about 86 people lived there. A main road, Minnesota Highway 50, runs through the community.

History of New Trier
The area where New Trier is located got its name because many of the first settlers came from a city called Trier, Germany. A post office opened in New Trier in 1867. It stayed open for many years but closed in 1933.
Geography and Location
New Trier is a very small city. It covers an area of about 0.49 square kilometers (0.19 square miles). All of this area is land; there are no lakes or rivers within the city limits.
Even though New Trier is its own city, it is completely surrounded by Hampton Township. You can find New Trier in the southeastern part of Dakota County.
