Newark Valley is a long valley in western White Pine County, Nevada. It stretches from north to south. This valley is special because it's an endorheic basin. This means that any water that flows into the valley stays there and doesn't flow out to a river or ocean. Instead, it usually evaporates or sinks into the ground.

What is Newark Valley Like?
Newark Valley is home to a large, dry lake bed called Newark Lake. This lake bed is about 23 kilometers (14 miles) long and 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) wide. Imagine a very long, flat area where a lake used to be!
Mountains Around the Valley
The valley is surrounded by mountains. To the west, you'll find the Diamond Mountains. These mountains form a natural border for the valley. On the east side, smaller mountains separate Newark Valley from another nearby valley called Long Valley.
Connecting Valleys
If you travel north from Newark Valley, you'll cross a lower area of land. Beyond this, you'll find two other valleys: Huntington Valley and Ruby Valley. This shows how different valleys in Nevada are connected.
How to Get to Newark Valley
You can reach Newark Valley by road. US Route 50 crosses the southern part of the valley. This highway is famous for being a very long and quiet road.
Nevada State Route 892
Another road, Nevada State Route 892, runs north from US 50. This route follows the western edge of Newark Valley. It's a great way to see the valley's unique landscape up close.
