History of Newtown
Newtown was officially planned and marked out in 1829. Just two years later, in 1831, the town got its own post office. This helped people send and receive mail easily.
Geography of Newtown
Newtown is located in Indiana, northwest of the city of Indianapolis. The town is mainly found where two important roads meet: State Road 55 and State Road 341.
According to information from 2010, Newtown covers an area of about 0.5 square miles (1.3 square kilometers). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large lakes or rivers within the town limits.

In 2010, the census showed that 256 people lived in Newtown. These people lived in 93 different homes, and 67 of these were families. The town had about 512 people per square mile. There were 107 housing units, which means there were 107 places where people could live.
Most of the people in Newtown were White (95.3%). A smaller number were African American (2.0%) or Native American (0.8%). About 2.0% of the population identified as being from two or more races. People who identified as Hispanic or Latino made up 1.6% of the population.
Out of the 93 homes, 38.7% had children under 18 living there. More than half (55.9%) were married couples living together. Some homes had a single parent: 8.6% had a mother with no husband, and 7.5% had a father with no wife. About 28.0% of the homes were not families.
