Ngaralda facts for kids
The Ngaralda people, sometimes called Ngaralta or Meru, were an important group of Aboriginal people. They lived in what is now South Australia.
Ngaralda Traditional Lands
The Ngaralda people lived on their traditional lands in South Australia. A researcher named Norman Tindale estimated their land covered about 777 square kilometers (300 square miles).
Their country stretched from Wood Hill on the Murray River to Port Mannum. To the west, their lands reached Bremer Creek, Palmer, and the eastern edge of the Mount Lofty Ranges. Their border with the Jarildekald was at a place called Pitjaringgarang (Mason Rock) on the eastern side of the Murray River.

Over time, the Ngaralda people were also known by a few other names. These included:
- Ngaraltu
- Wanaulun
- Wanjakalde (This name was sometimes used by the Jarildekald people)
- Wanyakalde
- Wunyakalde
- Wanakald
