Nicholas Tse Ting-fung (born on 29 August 1980) is a famous actor, singer, songwriter, and chef from Hong Kong. He is also a successful business owner. Nicholas Tse started his career as a singer in 1996. Later, he became well-known for his acting in many movies.

Some of his most famous films include New Police Story (2004), Bodyguards and Assassins (2009), and Raging Fire (2021). For his role in The Stool Pigeon (2010), he won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actor. This made him the first person to win top awards in three major acting categories at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Nicholas Tse also founded Post Production Office, a company that creates special effects for movies. This company was later bought by Digital Domain in 2016. After that, Tse became the chairman of Digital Domain in Greater China.

Early Life and Education

Nicholas Tse was born in Kowloon, Hong Kong, on 29 August 1980. His parents are famous Hong Kong actors, Patrick Tse and Deborah Lee. He also has a younger sister named Jennifer Tse.

When he was eight years old, Tse moved to Vancouver, Canada. He went to St. George's School there. Later, he moved back to Hong Kong and attended Hong Kong International School. He left school in grade 10 because of a lot of media attention. He then studied briefly in Phoenix, Arizona, before returning to Vancouver and then Hong Kong. In 1996, at age 16, he studied music in Tokyo. He was a dual citizen of Hong Kong and Canada until 2021, when he gave up his Canadian citizenship.

Music Journey

In 1997, Nicholas Tse signed a record deal with Fitto label, which later became Emperor Entertainment Group. He released his first album, My Attitude, which was a huge success. He won the Most Popular New Artist Award in 1997.

In 2000 and 2001, he released two more popular albums, "VIVA" and "玉蝴蝶" (Jade Butterfly). In 2002, he received the World's Best Chinese Artist award at the 2002 World Music Award for his music.

Acting Roles

Nicholas Tse has starred in many memorable films. These include Young and Dangerous: The Prequel (1998), Gen-X Cops (1999), and Invisible Target (2007). His performance in Bodyguards and Assassins (2009) earned him an Asian Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 2011, he won a Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actor for The Stool Pigeon (2010).

He also lent his voice to animated characters. He was the voice of Flik in the Hong Kong version of A Bug's Life (1998). He also voiced a character in the Chinese animated film Lotus Lantern (1999).

For his action roles, Tse learned martial arts from experts like Jackie Chan. He also worked with Donnie Yen in the martial arts film Dragon Tiger Gate. Nicholas Tse practices Wing Chun, a type of Chinese martial art.

Besides films, Tse has also appeared in TV shows. Some of these include Aiming High (1998) and The Proud Twins (2004).

Becoming a TV Chef

In 2014, Nicholas Tse started a new part of his career as a TV chef. He launched his own food travel show called Chef Nic. In 2015, he opened a cookie bakery in Hong Kong. The next year, he launched his own lifestyle and food brand, also called Chef Nic.

In October 2016, Tse was honored as the first "Friend of Michelin." This award recognized his positive contributions to the world of food through his work. In November 2017, he even prepared a dessert course for a special dinner with several Michelin-star chefs.
