Nicholas David Rowland Cassavetes (born May 21, 1959) is an American actor, director, and writer. He has worked on many popular films. Some movies he directed include She's So Lovely (1997), John Q. (2002), and The Notebook (2004). He also directed Alpha Dog (2006) and My Sister's Keeper (2009). As an actor, he appeared in films like The Wraith (1986), Face/Off (1997), and Blow (2001).

Early Life and Career Beginnings
Nick Cassavetes was born in New York City. His parents were famous in the film world. His father, John Cassavetes, was a Greek-American actor and director. His mother, Gena Rowlands, was also an actress. When Nick was a child, he even appeared in his father's movie Husbands (1970).
Growing up around movies, Nick first thought he didn't want to work in film. He went to Syracuse University on a basketball scholarship. But an injury ended his sports career. This made him think about what he wanted to do next. He then decided to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. This was the same school his parents attended.

Nick Cassavetes has acted in many films. These include Face/Off, The Wraith, and Life. He also appeared in Class of 1999 II: The Substitute and The Astronaut's Wife.
He has directed several well-known movies. Some of these are John Q, Alpha Dog, and The Notebook. He also directed She's So Lovely, Unhook the Stars, and My Sister's Keeper. Besides directing, he helped write the screenplay for the movie Blow. He also wrote dialogue for a Justin Timberlake music video called "What Goes Around... Comes Around".
Other Interests and Appearances
Nick Cassavetes also enjoys playing poker. He competed in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Invitational Season 5. He finished in fifth place in that tournament. He also appeared on a TV show called High Stakes Poker on the Game Show Network (GSN).
He even played himself in an episode of the HBO show Entourage. This was in the seventh season of the show.
Family Life
In 1985, Nick Cassavetes married Isabelle Rafalovich. They had two daughters together. Later, they divorced. One of their daughters, Sasha, was born with a heart condition. She had to have surgery. Nick Cassavetes dedicated his film John Q. to Sasha. His movie My Sister's Keeper was also partly inspired by Sasha's medical experiences.
Later, Cassavetes married Heather "Queenie" Wahlquist. They also have a daughter together. Heather Wahlquist has acted in some of his films. She had a small part in The Notebook as Sara. Nick's mother, Gena Rowlands, also appeared in The Notebook. She played the older version of the main character, Allie.
