The Nickelodeon HALO Awards was a special TV show that happened every year. It first aired on TeenNick. Later, it also showed on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. The awards usually aired in December. They featured five regular teenagers who were Helping And Leading Others (HALO). This is where the name came from!
The show was created by Nick Cannon. It was a lot like other awards shows that celebrate heroes. The HALO Awards stopped after 2017. This happened because TeenNick had budget cuts, which meant they couldn't make new shows anymore.

What Were the HALO Awards About?
The HALO Awards were unique because famous people gave out the awards instead of getting them. This was a cool change! The show focused on five teens. These teens were usually in their last year of high school or had just started college. They had all done amazing things to help others.
What Prize Did HALO Honorees Get?
Each teen honored at the HALO Awards received a special prize. They usually got $10,000 to help pay for their education. They also got another amount of money for their own charity. If a teen didn't have their own charity, they could choose a charity to give the money to.
On top of the money, the teens got to spend time with a celebrity. This celebrity shared a similar passion for helping others. They would even work together on a project to help people.
The HALO Awards Premiere Event
Before the main TV show aired, there was a special premiere screening of the HALO Awards. This event was only for invited guests. All the honored teens were flown to a chosen city. This was their first chance to meet each other. Their families and close friends also attended.
Many celebrities came to these premiere events. Some famous people who attended in the past include Brad Kavanagh, Jerry Trainor, Nathalia Ramos, Jade Ramsey, Matt Shively, Mary J. Blige, Heidi Klum, Jason Derulo, and Serena Williams. In different years, the premiere was held in New York City, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C.
For the 3rd Annual HALO Awards in October 2011, Nickelodeon announced a change. The show would air on Nick at Nite on November 6, 2011. It was filmed a few days earlier at the Hollywood Palladium in California.
The HALO Effect TV Show
The HALO Effect was a TV show that spun off from the HALO Awards. It started airing on Nickelodeon in January 2016. The show was hosted by Sydney Park. Each episode of The HALO Effect focused on one teen. It showed how they were doing good things in their community.
