Nickerson Farms was a chain of roadside restaurants in the United States. It was popular from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s. Imagine a place where you could stop during a long car trip to eat, buy gifts, and even get gas!

A man named I. J. Nickerson started this company. He used to run a different type of roadside stop called Stuckey's. But he had his own ideas about how to run a business like this. So, he decided to create Nickerson Farms.

A Stop for Travelers

At its busiest, there were about sixty Nickerson Farms locations. Most of them were found along major highways. These were mainly in the central United States, also known as the Midwest.

Each Nickerson Farms had a restaurant where you could get a full meal. They also had a gift shop where you could buy souvenirs. Many Nickerson Farms also sold gasoline, often from a company called Skelly.

Unique Features

A very unique thing about Nickerson Farms was that they sold honey! This honey came from beehives right there at the store. It was a special treat for travelers.
