Fuensanta Nieto
Fuensanta Nieto was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1957. She became an architect after studying at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She also studied at Columbia University in New York in 1981. Fuensanta is one of the people who started Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos. She also teaches architecture at the Universidad Europea de Madrid. Fuensanta Nieto often gives talks about architecture. She also helps judge design competitions around the world.
Enrique Sobejano
Enrique Sobejano
was also born in Madrid, Spain, in 1957. Like Fuensanta, he became an architect after studying at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He also went to Columbia University in New York in 1981. Enrique is a professor at the Universität der Künste Berlin. There, he teaches about the basic ideas of design. He has also visited and taught at many universities around the world. What the Studio Does
The work of Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos has been shown in many international magazines and books. Their designs have also been displayed in important art shows. These include the Biennale di Venezia several times, and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2006. Their work was also shown at the Kunsthaus in Graz in 2008.
The company has won many important awards for their designs. They received the National Prize for Restoration in Spain in 2007. They also won the Nike Prize in Germany in 2010. Other big awards include the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2010. They also won the European Museum of the Year Award in 2012. In 2015, they received the Alvar Aalto Medal.
