Nityanand Rai was born on 1 January 1966. He is an Indian politician. Currently, he serves as the Minister of State for Home Affairs in the Government of India. This means he helps manage important matters related to safety and security for the entire country.
He was first elected to the Lok Sabha (one of India's main parliamentary houses) in 2014. He won again in the 2019 General Election. He represents the Ujiarpur area. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, a major political party in India. Before becoming a Member of Parliament, he was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly (the state's law-making body) four times in a row, representing the Hajipur area from 2000 to 2014.
Early Life and Education
Nityanand Rai was born on 1 January 1966. His father was a farmer. From a young age, Rai was interested in social work and student activities. He joined a student group called ABVP in 1981. He studied at Raj Narayan College in Hajipur and earned a BA (Honours) degree from Bihar University.
Political Journey
Nityanand Rai began his political journey while still in college. He was elected as the president of his college's student union. In the year 2000, he ran for election in the Bihar Assembly election and won. He represented the Hajipur area in the state assembly for four terms.
In 2014, he decided to run for the national Parliament. He won the election from the Ujiarpur area and became a Member of Parliament. In 2015, he was made the President of the BJP party in Bihar. After the 2019 election, he became the Minister of State for Home Affairs. This is a very important role in the government.

Throughout his career, Nityanand Rai has held several important positions:
- He was a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2000, February 2005, October 2005, and 2010.
- He became a Member of Parliament for the Ujiarpur area in 2014 and 2019.
- From September 2014 to August 2018, he was part of the Standing Committee on Agriculture. This committee looks at farming issues.
- From September 2018 to May 2019, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Commerce. This committee deals with trade and business.
