Kiren Rijiju, born on November 19, 1971, is an Indian politician. He currently serves as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs. He took on these important roles in 2024.
Before this, he was the Minister of Earth Sciences and Food Processing Industries from 2023 to 2024. He has also been a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha. He represents the Arunachal West area. He was an MP from 2004 to 2009 and again since 2014. He has held many other important roles, including Minister of State for Home Affairs, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, and Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs. He also served as the Law Minister from 2021 to 2023.

Early Life and Background
Kiren Rijiju was born on November 19, 1971. His birthplace was Nakhu village, near Nafra town. This village is located in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. He comes from a Buddhist family. His father, Rinchin Kharu, was a notable figure. He was the first temporary speaker of the first Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Education and Studies
Kiren Rijiju completed his first degree, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He studied at Hansraj College, which is part of the University of Delhi. Later, in 1998, he continued his studies. He earned a law degree (LL.B) from the Campus Law Centre. This center is part of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
Political Journey and Roles
Kiren Rijiju has been elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) four times. He represents Arunachal Pradesh in the Lok Sabha. These terms were in 2004, 2014, 2019, and 2024.
He has served in various ministerial positions. These include Minister of State (with independent charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports. He was also the Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Minister of State for Home Affairs. From 2021 to 2023, he served as the Minister of Law and Justice.
On May 18, 2023, he was given the role of Minister of Earth Sciences. Then, on June 10, 2024, he became a Union Cabinet Minister. He is now in charge of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs for the Government of India. Kiren Rijiju is one of three Buddhist MPs in the current 18th Lok Sabha.
Personal Life and Family
Kiren Rijiju married Joram Rina Rijiju in 2004. His wife is a highly educated person. She graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women in New Delhi. She also won a gold medal from Arunachal University. Currently, she works as an Associate Professor. She teaches history at Dera Natung Government College in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
