Jarbom Gamlin (born April 16, 1961 – died November 30, 2014) was an important Indian politician. He was a leader of the Indian National Congress party in Arunachal Pradesh. He even served as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for a short time.

Growing Up: Jarbom Gamlin's Early Life
Jarbom Gamlin was born in a place called Along (now Aalo). This town is in the West Siang district. His parents were Sokjar Gamlin and Gamde Ete Gamlin.
He went to Sainik School in Assam. From 1976 to 1977, he was the school captain. This meant he was a leader among the students.
In 1982, he earned a degree in History from St. Stephen's College in Delhi. Then, in 1984, he got a law degree from Campus Law Centre at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. After finishing his studies, he worked as a lawyer in Dibrugarh.
He was also the President of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU). Later, he led the Arunachal Pradesh Bar Association from 1992 to 2001.
His Family Life
Jarbom Gamlin was married and had a family. He had two daughters and one son.
Jarbom Gamlin's Journey in Politics
Jarbom Gamlin began his political journey as a student leader. He was the president of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) from 1981 to 1983.
Later, he became a member of the 13th Lok Sabha. This is like being a representative in the Indian Parliament. He represented the Arunachal West area.
In 2004, he was elected to the 4th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He represented the Liromoba area. He then became the Home Minister in the government led by Gegong Apang.
However, he later left the cabinet because he had disagreements with Apang. He played a big part in changing the government. He helped Dorjee Khandu become the Chief Minister in April 2007.
In 2009, he was re-elected to the 5th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the same area. On November 6, 2009, he became the Power Minister in Dorjee Khandu's government.
Becoming Chief Minister
On May 5, 2011, Jarbom Gamlin became the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. This happened after the previous Chief Minister, Dorjee Khandu, passed away on April 30, 2011.
However, his time as Chief Minister was short. On October 31, 2011, his government was replaced by Nabam Tuki.
Remembering Jarbom Gamlin
Jarbom Gamlin passed away on November 30, 2014, at the age of 53. Family members said he had a serious liver condition. This condition affected other important organs in his body. He was being treated at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon, but he sadly passed away there.
His body was flown from Guwahati Airport to Naharlagun. It was kept there for an hour so people could pay their respects. Then, it was flown to Aalo, where he was laid to rest. Many people, including the President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid their respects to him.
