Nlakaʼpamux Nation Tribal Council facts for kids
The Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council is a special group that helps several First Nations communities in British Columbia, Canada. It used to be called the Fraser Thompson Indian Services Society. This council works with communities located in the beautiful Fraser Canyon and Thompson Canyon areas.
The Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council is one of three main councils for the Nlaka'pamux people. The other two are the Nicola Tribal Association and the Fraser Canyon Indian Administration. However, the Lytton First Nation, which is the largest Nlaka'pamux community, is not part of any of these three councils.
Who Leads the Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council?
The leader of the Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council is called the tribal chair. Chief Matt Pasco became the tribal chair in 2020. His father, Grand Chief Bob Pasco, held this important position for almost 40 years before him!
Which Communities Are Members?
The Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council works with several First Nations communities. These communities are called member bands. They include:
- Ashcroft First Nation
- Boothroyd First Nation (near Boston Bar)
- Boston Bar First Nation
- Oregon Jack Creek Band (near Ashcroft)
- Spuzzum First Nation (This community is also part of the Fraser Canyon Indian Administration)
