Nogales is a city and a commune in central Chile. A commune is like a local area or district that has its own local government. Nogales is located in the Quillota Province, which is part of the Valparaíso Region.

Geography
The commune of Nogales covers an area of about 405.2 square kilometers. This is roughly the size of a medium-sized city.
Demographics
In 2002, a count of people (called a census) showed that Nogales had 21,633 people living there. Out of these, 10,786 were men and 10,847 were women.
Most people in Nogales, about 86.4% (18,698 people), lived in urban areas, which means cities or towns. The remaining 13.6% (2,935 people) lived in rural areas, which are countryside areas. Between 1992 and 2002, the population of Nogales grew by 15.9%, adding 2,964 more people.
Administration
As a commune, Nogales has its own local government. This government is run by a communal council and led by an elected alcalde, which is like a Mayor.

The current alcalde of Nogales is Óscar Cortés Puebla, who belongs to the Christian Democrat Party (PDC). The communal council, which helps the alcalde make decisions, includes these members:

National Representation
Nogales is also part of larger areas for national elections in Chile.
- For the Chamber of Deputies (one of Chile's main law-making groups), Nogales is in the 10th electoral district. This district is represented by Eduardo Cerda (PDC) and Andrea Molina (UDI).
- For the Senate (the other main law-making group), Nogales is part of the 5th senatorial constituency (Valparaíso-Cordillera). This area is represented by Ignacio Walker Prieto (PDC) and Lily Pérez San Martín (RN).
