How Did North Bastion Mountain Get Its Name?
Many mountains in this area have interesting names. North Bastion Mountain, along with others like South Bastion Mountain and Tower Mountain, got their names from the historic Tower of London in England.
These names were given by a group called the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) Canadian Rocky Mountains Expedition 1960. This was a small team of people from a British army regiment. This regiment was based at the Tower of London. They explored the Canadian Rockies in 1960 and decided to name these peaks after parts of their famous home base. Tower Mountain, for example, overlooks the southern end of Wokkpash Lake.
