North Beach is a small town located in Calvert County, Maryland, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,146 people lived there.
North Beach is known for its boardwalk, which is a great place to walk and enjoy the view. The town also has several parks, like Wetlands Overlook Park and Callis Park. It is home to the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Maryland and a public library that opened in 2024. North Beach is right next to a bigger town called Chesapeake Beach.

History of North Beach
The town of North Beach was first planned out in 1900 and then again in 1908. It officially became a town in 1910. It was created as a place mainly for homes, and old newspaper ads called it "Washington's most popular salt water resort."
Early Days and Activities
In the early days, visitors came to North Beach by steamboat, train, and even oxen carts. Later, trolley cars and cars also brought people. For over 100 years, both people living there and visitors have enjoyed many fun things. These include swimming, crabbing, boating, and looking for sharks' teeth and fossils. People also enjoyed local restaurants, the pier, the boardwalk, and various festivals.
Changes Over Time
The town started to get a fresh look in the 1980s, and this really sped up in the 1990s. In 2003, a big storm called Hurricane Isabel hit North Beach. It brought large waves that damaged many homes, businesses, and the boardwalk. Since then, the area along the water in North Beach has been rebuilt with new homes and apartment buildings.
Getting Around North Beach
The main way to travel to and from North Beach is by road. The most important road serving the town is Maryland Route 261. This road goes through the town, following Chesapeake Avenue, 7th Street, and Bay Avenue. MD 261 connects North Beach to its neighbor, Chesapeake Beach, and other towns along the Chesapeake Bay. In Chesapeake Beach, MD 261 connects to other state roads that lead further inland.
