North Collins is a small village in Erie County, New York, United States. In 2021, about 1,255 people lived there. The village is located in the northwest part of the larger town of North Collins.

Village History

The area that is now North Collins village used to have different names. People called it "Rose's Corners" or "Kerr's Corners."

The village of North Collins officially became its own separate community in 1911. This meant it had its own local government, separate from the surrounding town of North Collins.

In 2008, there was a discussion about whether the village should stop being a village and become part of the town again. However, the people living in the village voted to keep it as a village, so it remains one today.

Sports and Athletes

North Collins is known for having some talented athletes. One famous person from the area is Marion Fricano. He was a professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball from 1952 to 1955. He played for the Philadelphia and Kansas City Athletics teams.

North Collins High School has a strong sports program. Their boys' soccer team has won many awards. Since 1960, they have won 23 sectional titles. They even won the state championship in 1994!

Village Geography

North Collins village covers a total area of about 0.8 square miles (2.1 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

Two main roads pass through the village. These are U.S. Route 62, also known as Main Street, and New York State Route 249. Route 249 is also called Brant Road and Sherman Avenue in different parts.
