North Collins is a small town located in Erie County, New York, in the United States. In 2010, about 3,523 people lived there. The town gets its name from its original parent town, Collins.

North Collins is in the southern part of Erie County. It is considered one of the "Southtowns" of the county. The main community within the town is the village of North Collins.

History of North Collins

The first settlers arrived in the North Collins area in 1809.

How the Town Was Formed

The town of North Collins was officially created in 1852. It was first called the "Town of Shirley." It was formed from the northern part of the nearby town of Collins. Just one year later, in 1853, the town changed its name to North Collins.

In 1911, the community of North Collins became its own separate village. This means it has its own local government.

Historic Buildings

The Gamel Hexadecagon Barn is a special building in North Collins. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. This means it's an important historical site.
