A Look at History
North Creek has an interesting past. It was once the very end of the Adirondack Railway. This was the first railroad built into the Adirondacks. It was created by Dr. Thomas C. Durant.
A Presidential Moment
A famous event happened at the North Creek station. In 1901, Vice President Theodore Roosevelt was on Mount Marcy. He was hiking when he learned that President William McKinley had died. Roosevelt quickly rode to the North Creek station. From there, he traveled to become the new President.
Historic Buildings
The North Creek Railroad Station Complex is a very important place. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. This means it is recognized for its historical value.

Skiing at Gore Mountain
