North Lemmon is a small place in Adams County, North Dakota, United States. It is an unincorporated community, which means it's not an official town or city with its own local government. The community was named after George E. Lemmon, a person who owned land in the area.
History of North Lemmon
North Lemmon used to be a stop along the Milwaukee Railroad. This was an important railway line. Today, the same tracks are used by the BNSF Railway, which is a major freight railroad company.
Where is North Lemmon?
North Lemmon is located right next to the border of South Dakota. It sits just across from the city of Lemmon, which is in South Dakota. North Lemmon is like an extension of Lemmon, but it is on the North Dakota side.
For a while, North Lemmon was part of something called North Lemmon Township. This township was a small local government area. However, the township ended in 1999. Now, North Lemmon is part of a larger area known as the East Adams Unorganized Territory.
How Many People Live There?
The United States Census Bureau does not track the exact number of people living in North Lemmon today. However, when it was still a township, North Lemmon Township had 81 people living there in 1990. By the time the township ended in 1999, it was estimated that about 66 people lived there.
