North Utica, often called Utica, is a small village in Illinois. It is located in LaSalle County. In 2020, about 1,323 people lived there.
Even though its official name is North Utica, many signs and local people call it Utica. This is because Utica was its original name. It is part of the Ottawa area.

Village History
The first town of Utica was built near the Illinois River in the 1830s. But floods and the building of the Illinois and Michigan Canal caused the village to move. The new village was then called North Utica.
The 2004 Tornado
On April 20, 2004, a very strong tornado hit Utica. It was an F3 tornado, which means it was very powerful. The tornado caused a lot of damage to the downtown area. It cost about $8 million to repair everything. Sadly, eight people lost their lives because of the storm.
Fire at Grand Bear Resort
In 2022, a fire happened at the Grand Bear Resort. This resort is near Starved Rock State Park. The fire damaged 28 cabins that people owned. However, the main lodge, waterpark, and most other cabins were not affected.
