Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi (Arabic: نورة بنت محمد الكعبي) is an important politician and businesswoman from the UAE. She currently works as a Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This means she helps with important international relations for her country.
Before this, she was the Minister of Culture and Youth for the United Arab Emirates from 2020 to 2023. She also served as the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development starting in October 2017. From February 2016 to October 2017, she was the Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs. She has also led twofour54 since 2012 and Abu Dhabi Media since 2017.
Education and Learning
Noura Al Kaabi went to high school in Abu Dhabi and in Pennsylvania, USA. She studied at the United Arab Emirates University. In 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in management information systems. Later, in 2011, she completed a special leadership program at the London Business School.
Career Journey
Noura Al Kaabi started her career in a management role at Dolphin Energy. In October 2007, she joined twofour54, a company that supports media and entertainment. She became the head of human development there in 2011. In February 2012, she was promoted to CEO of twofour54.
Government Roles
In November 2011, Al Kaabi was chosen to be part of the Federal National Council (FNC) from Abu Dhabi. She was re-appointed in November 2015. On February 10, 2016, she became the Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs. In this role, she helped connect the government's cabinet with the FNC.
In June 2016, she became the chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company. Then, on April 12, 2017, she became the chairwoman of Abu Dhabi Media. On October 19, 2017, she was appointed Minister for Culture and Knowledge Development.
As of March 2018, she was also a board member for several important groups. These included the UAE National Media Council, Image Nation, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the United Arab Emirates University.
On July 5, 2020, she was appointed the Minister of Culture and Youth. This happened after some changes were made to government roles. In February 2023, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced her new role. She became the Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Awards and Recognition
Noura Al Kaabi has received many awards and honors for her work.
- In 2011 and 2012, Arabian Business magazine named her one of the "100 Most Powerful Arab Women."
- In 2013, she was the first Emirati person to be listed among Foreign Policy Magazine's "Top 100 Global Thinkers."
- That same year, Le Nouvel Observateur named her one of the "50 individuals who contribute to changing the world."
- In 2014, Forbes Middle East recognized her as one of the 30 Most Influential Women in Government.
- She won "Business Woman of the Year" at the Gulf Business Awards. She also received the "Young Achiever Award" from AmCham, Abu Dhabi.
- Since 2014, she has been a young global leader at the World Economic Forum.
- In 2015, LinkedIn named her a global influencer. She was the first woman from the MENA region to join LinkedIn's Global Influencer Program.
- She was also honored by America Abroad Media in 2015.
- The Hollywood Reporter named her one of the 25 most powerful women in global television.
- In December 2020, Moon Jae-in, who was the President of South Korea, gave her the "Diplomatic Service Medal." This was to thank her for helping to make the relationship between the UAE and South Korea stronger.
