The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame is a special place that celebrates amazing athletes, teams, and people who helped build sports in Nova Scotia, Canada. It was started on November 3, 1964, by John E. Ahern. You can find it in Halifax, the capital city of Nova Scotia, inside the World Trade and Convention Centre.

How the Hall of Fame Started

After getting money from the government, John E. Ahern created a group of leaders called a Board of Directors. Their job was to pick the very first people to be honored. Some of the first Nova Scotia sports stars to be chosen included Aileen Meagher, Johnny Miles, Sam Langford, and George Dixon.

John E. Ahern, who used to be the Mayor of Halifax, loved sports very much. He collected many items and pictures related to local sports. He gave this large collection to the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame. His gift is still the biggest donation the Hall of Fame has ever received.

Famous People in the Hall of Fame

Many talented athletes and sports figures have been added to the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame. These people are called "inductees" because they have been officially welcomed into the Hall of Fame for their great achievements.
