Exploring Nowendoc National Park
Getting to Nowendoc National Park means driving on gravel roads. These roads can be winding and steep in some places. They are not suitable for caravans or large trailers.
The park is split into two main parts. The biggest section is found north-west of Nowendoc. Here, you can visit the Myall Creek Camp Ground. You can also see the amazing Callaghans Canyon.
Getting to Different Sections
The south-eastern part of the park has a place called Wrights Hut. To reach this area, you need a Four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle. You also need to get a special key from the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. This key unlocks a gate on the trail south of Nowendoc.
There is also a smaller, separate part of the park. This forested section is located on Millers Road.
Camping and Activities
At Myall Creek, there's a small, very basic camping area. It's set among tall eucalypt trees right next to the creek. There's a barbecue pit where you can have a campfire. However, there are no other facilities like toilets or running water.
Both the Myall Creek camping area and the Wrights Hut section are best visited in dry weather. You will need a 4WD vehicle to reach them. If you enjoy bushwalking and exploring on your own, you can discover beautiful waterfalls and rainforests. Further away from the campground, you might find more scenic canyons, waterfalls, and historic places.
