Nuevo is a small community in Riverside County, California. Its name means "New" in Spanish. It is located east of Lake Perris and the city of Perris.
Nuevo is not a city, but a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is a community that the U.S. Census Bureau defines for gathering statistics. In 2020, about 7,033 people lived there. This number was higher than the 6,447 people counted in 2010.
Geography and Landscape
Nuevo is found at about 33.8 degrees North latitude and 117.1 degrees West longitude. The area covers about 6.8 square miles (17.5 square kilometers). All of this land is dry, with no large bodies of water.
The landscape around Nuevo is quite varied. You can see rocky hills and gently rolling hills. There are also low-lying valleys. The San Jacinto River flows along the northern part of the area. However, this river is usually dry.
The natural plants here are mostly Coastal Sage Scrub. This type of plant grows in dry, coastal areas. But in the lower parts of Nuevo, where people live and farm, much of this natural plant life has been replaced.
