Nyam-Osoryn Uchral (born on January 2, 1987) is an important politician and businessman from Mongolia. He became the Prime Minister of Mongolia on March 31, 2026. He has also been the leader of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) since November 15, 2025. Mr. Uchral has been a member of the State Great Khural (which is like Mongolia's parliament) since 2016. He became well-known in November 2025 when he was chosen as the leader of his party and the speaker of the parliament at 38 years old. This happened after a special meeting of his party.

Who is Nyam-Osoryn Uchral?
After Prime Minister Gombojavyn Zandanshatar stepped down on March 27, 2026, Mr. Uchral was chosen to be the next Prime Minister. The parliament, called the State Great Khural, voted for him on March 30, 2026. He officially became the 33rd Prime Minister of Mongolia that night.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Mr. Uchral was the President of the Social Democracy–Mongolian Youth Federation. This is the youth group of his political party. He also worked with the International Parliamentary Union on topics related to the United Nations. Mr. Uchral comes from a family that owns several businesses in Mongolia, including Ikh Zasag International University.
Early Life and Learning
Nyam-Osoryn Uchral was born in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, on January 2, 1987. He is the oldest child of Namsraigiin Nyam-Osor and Jambalyn Tsetsegmaa. He went to secondary school and finished his high school education in 2003.
He studied law at Ikh Zasag International University, which his father founded. Later, he earned degrees in business from a university in the United Kingdom. He also studied historical sciences at the Mongolian State University of Education and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. After finishing his studies, he founded the Royal International University in Mongolia.
His Journey in Politics
Mr. Uchral joined the Mongolian People's Party (MPP) in 2009. He quickly became an active member of its youth group. In 2012, he joined the leadership of this youth organization. He also became a director at a training center.
From 2012 to 2016, he represented the citizens of Bayanzurkh District in Ulaanbaatar. He also worked as a director for the MPP's Political Department. He helped manage the party's public relations and media during elections. In 2015, he advised the Deputy Prime Minister, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh. Later, he became an advisor for his party's group in the parliament.
In 2016, Mr. Uchral was elected to the State Great Khural, Mongolia's parliament. He represented the Songinokhairkhan District. He worked on important committees, including those for Legal Affairs, Social Policy, Education, Culture, and Science. He also led a special committee on digital policy, focusing on new technologies. He was re-elected as a Member of Parliament in 2020 and 2024.
Becoming Prime Minister
In March 2026, the previous Prime Minister, Gombojavyn Zandanshatar, resigned from his position. The parliament accepted his resignation on the same day. As the leader of the ruling party, Mr. Uchral was a strong candidate to become the next Prime Minister.
On March 29, 2026, his party chose him to be their nominee for Prime Minister. This decision was seen as a way to bring more stability to the country. On March 30, the State Great Khural officially appointed him as the 33rd Prime Minister of Mongolia. Most lawmakers voted for him. He took over the role from the previous Prime Minister at midnight.
