Nybro Municipality (which in Swedish is Nybro kommun) is a local area in Kalmar County, located in south-eastern Sweden. It's like a small region with its main town, Nybro, as its center.
This municipality was formed in 1969. Before that, the City of Nybro was created in 1932. The new municipality brought together the city and the smaller areas around it.
For a long time, only a few hundred people lived here. But things changed a lot in the late 1800s when railways were built. Nybro became an important stop because it was located between big cities like Kalmar on the east coast and Gothenburg on the west coast. Later, another railway connected it to Malmö in the south-west. Before the railways, Nybro mostly had small businesses, including a match factory. The area is known for its forests, which is typical for the Småland region, and it wasn't very good for farming.
Nybro Municipality is also part of a special area called the "Kingdom of Crystal" (Glasriket in Swedish). This region is famous for its glass factories and covers four different municipalities.
