Orin J. Childress (born December 6, 1976) is a former American football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was picked by the New York Giants in the 1999 NFL draft. Childress also played college football at Clemson University. He was part of other teams like the Amsterdam Admirals, San Francisco 49ers, and Carolina Panthers.

Early Life and College Football

Orin J. Childress was born on December 6, 1976. His hometown is Hermitage, Tennessee. He went to McGavock High School in Nashville, Tennessee.

After high school, he played college football for the Clemson Tigers. This was at Clemson University. He played there for four years, from 1995 to 1998.

Professional Football Career

Orin Childress was seen as a talented outside linebacker before the 1999 NFL draft. The NFL draft is where professional teams choose new players. The New York Giants picked him as the 231st player in the draft.

He played in four games for the Giants during the 1999 season. In 2000, he played for the Amsterdam Admirals. This team was part of the NFL Europe league. The Giants later released him in August 2000. He then joined their practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. He left the Giants in November 2000.

After that, the San Francisco 49ers signed him in November 2000. Soon after, in December 2000, the Carolina Panthers signed him from the 49ers' practice squad. He was released by the Panthers in August 2001.
