O Incio is a small town, or 'municipality,' located in the beautiful region of Galicia, in northwestern Spain. It's part of the Lugo province and belongs to an area called Sarria.

Exploring O Incio

One of the most special places in O Incio is the Church of Hospital. This ancient church was built way back in the 12th century! It's a great example of Romanesque architecture, which was popular a long time ago. The church is made of grey marble and is very well preserved.

Ancient Roman Connections

Some of the decorations inside the Church of Hospital actually came from an even older place. They were taken from the ruins of a nearby Roman town called Lucus Augusti. Today, that town is known as Lugo. Imagine using pieces of an ancient Roman city to decorate a medieval church!

Nature Around the Church

The church is surrounded by a lovely forest filled with oak and chestnut trees. It sits in a narrow valley that faces west, making it a peaceful and scenic spot to visit.

People and Places

O Incio is made up of 28 smaller areas called 'parishes'. Within these parishes, there are 187 different populated places, which are like small villages or hamlets.

As of 2021, about 1,533 people live in O Incio. The mayor, who is the leader of the town, is Ángel Camino Copa.
