Obdam is a village in the Netherlands. It is located in the province of North Holland, in a region called West-Frisia. Obdam used to be its own 'municipality', which is like a small local government area.
On January 1, 2007, the municipality of Obdam joined with another area called Wester-Koggenland. Together, they formed a new, bigger municipality known as Koggenland.

The area that used to be the municipality of Obdam includes a few smaller towns and villages. These are Berkmeer, Hensbroek, Obdam itself, and part of Wogmeer.

Obdam has its own train station. From here, you can take direct trains to Hoorn. If you want to go to Amsterdam, you can change trains at Hoorn.

Obdam has an interesting history with some important dates and people.
Early Lords of Obdam
- 1503: The van Duvenvoorde family became the 'Lords' of Obdam. This meant they were important rulers or landowners in the town.
- 1610: Jacob, Baron van Wassenaer, was born. He was the son of Jacob van Duvenvoorde van Wassenaer and later became a Lord of Obdam.
- 1620: Jacob van Duvenvoorde started using the van Wassenaer family name. He became known as Jacob van Duvenvoorde van Wassenaer.
A Brave Commander
- 1665: Jacob, Baron van Wassenaer, who was the Lord of Obdam, sadly died. He was the captain of a Dutch ship during a sea battle with the English.
Modern Changes
- 1979: A new municipality of Obdam was created. It included the towns of Hensbroek and Wogmeer.
- 2007: The municipality of Obdam merged into the new municipality of Koggenland, as mentioned earlier.
