About Ocean Avenue

Ocean Avenue is a well-known street in Santa Monica, California. It starts at Adelaide Drive in the north and stretches down to Pico Boulevard. This road is the westernmost street in Santa Monica. For most of its path, it runs right next to Palisades Park. From the park's cliffs, you can see Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Monica State Beach.

What You Can See

Along Ocean Avenue, you will find many fancy apartment buildings. These buildings offer incredible views of the Pacific Ocean, Santa Monica Beach, Malibu, and the Santa Monica Mountains. Just two blocks east of Ocean Avenue is the Third Street Promenade. This is a popular outdoor shopping and entertainment area. The famous Santa Monica Pier is also located where Ocean Avenue meets Colorado Avenue.

How Roads Connect

Many main roads that go from east to west start or end on Ocean Avenue. These include Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, and Pico Boulevard. After Pico Boulevard, Ocean Avenue changes its name to Neilson Way. Neilson Way then continues towards Venice Beach. Once it reaches Venice Beach, the street becomes Pacific Avenue. This road keeps going past Washington Boulevard through the Marina Peninsula. It finally ends near the main channel that connects Marina Del Rey harbor to the Pacific Ocean.

The intersection with California Avenue leads to the California Incline. This incline is a road that takes you down to the Pacific Coast Highway. The Pacific Coast Highway itself goes underneath Ocean Avenue through the McClure Tunnel.
