Ocie is a small, quiet place in the southwestern part of Ozark County, Missouri, in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and perhaps a few businesses that are part of the county, but they don't have their own local government like a city or town. Ocie is found in a peaceful valley, very close to the border of Taney County.
Where is Ocie Located?
Ocie is located in a pretty valley. It's about 0.66 miles (around 1 kilometer) from the border of Taney County. You can find it about 1.1 miles (1.8 kilometers) south of U.S. Highway 160. It's also about 6 miles (9.7 kilometers) west-southwest of a community called Theodosia. The community sits in a valley about 0.8 miles (1.3 kilometers) north of the Lick Creek part of Bull Shoals Lake.
History of Ocie's Post Office
A post office was opened in Ocie in 1907. It was named after a person who lived there, Ocie Conklin. This post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1967. Today, people in Ocie receive their mail from the post office in nearby Theodosia.
